چکیده

Vital sign monitoring plays a critical role in tracking the physiological state of people and enabling various health-related applications (e.g., recommending change lifestyle, examining risk diseases). Traditional approaches rely on hospitalization or body-attached instruments, which are costly intrusive. However, recent years there is an emergence contact-less vital techniques that radio frequency signals. Early studies with continuous wave radars/WiFi devices have shown good success detecting signs single individual, while simultaneous multiple, closely spaced subjects remains challenge. In this paper, using off-the-shelf Texas Instrument automotive FMCW radar, we design implement time-division multiplexing (TDM) phased-MIMO radar sensing system allows high-precision multiple subjects. The proposed can steer beam towards desired directions micro-second delay. steerable enables capturing individuals at same radial distance to radar. formation virtual array aperture longer than physical array. A Capon beamformer used receiver side combine data collected from different transmit receive antenna pairs corresponding As all those provide independent information about targets, their combination significantly boosts signal-to-noise ratio. Based designed TDM develop automatically localize human estimate signs. Extensive evaluations show under two-subject scenarios, our achieve more 98.06% accuracy for breathing rate (BR) 82.89% heartbeat (HR) estimation, subject-to-radar $\text{1.6}\;m$ when targets facing minimal subject-to-subject angle separation notation="LaTeX">$30^\circ $ , close notation="LaTeX">$\text{0.3}\;m$ between two subjects, outperforms state-of-the-art.

Performance of Target Detection in Phased-MIMO Radars

In this paper, the problem of target detection in phased-MIMO radars is considered and target detection performance of phased-MIMO radars is compared with MIMO and phased-array radars. Phased-MIMO radars combine advantages of the MIMO and phased-array radars. In these radars, the transmit array will be partitioned into a number of subarrays that are allowed to overlap and each subarray transmit...

A Detailed Algorithm for Vital Sign Monitoring of a Stationary/Non-Stationary Human through IR-UWB Radar

The vital sign monitoring through Impulse Radio Ultra-Wide Band (IR-UWB) radar provides continuous assessment of a patient's respiration and heart rates in a non-invasive manner. In this paper, IR UWB radar is used for monitoring respiration and the human heart rate. The breathing and heart rate frequencies are extracted from the signal reflected from the human body. A Kalman filter is applied ...

moving target detection in airborne widely separated phased mimo radar using generalized subspace detector

in this paper, the detection of moving targets in airborne widely separated phased multiple input multiple output (mimo) radars which are located on moving platform is investigated. in order to derive the detector, the generalized likelihood ratio test is applied. the proposed detection rule, exploits the clutter subspace information and its maximum likelihood estimation, to improve the detecti...

Analysis of Vital Signs Monitoring Using an Ir-uwb Radar

Ultra-wide Band (UWB) technology is a new, useful and safe technology in the field of wireless body networks. This paper focuses on the feasibility of estimating vital signs — specifically breathing rate and heartbeat frequency — from the spectrum of recorded waveforms, using an impulse-radio (IR) UWB radar. To this end, an analytical model is developed to perform and interpret the spectral ana...

Extreme Value Theory for Novelty Detection in Vital Sign Monitoring

Studies indicate that a large number of in-hospital cardiac events could be prevented, provided that the preceding physiological abnormalities are identified and acted upon. Continuous patient monitoring is not a task that can reasonably be assigned to the nursing staff, but one that could benefit from the use of an automated system. With this in mind, an early warning system based on a data-dr...
